Economic disempowered women face challenges of acceptability at the community level, they lose confidence and feel intimidated to speak in public and their views are not taken seriously. It is very difficult to seek to occupy space in the development platforms within and out of the community. Vulnerability to gender-based violence, violence against women and girls is more pronounced in families that are economically challenged. Sauti works to ensure that the chapters and young mothers are aggressively engaged in income-generating activities, they access devolved funds like Uwezo, and Women Enterprise Fund among other devolved funds. Sauti also works with developmental partners to identify existing opportunities to engage women in economic activities. Sauti has;
- Established revolving funds in partnership with Aga Khan Foundation for sauti chapters and already some few chapters from Mombasa have benefited example Mvita chapter, Likoni Sauti chapter, Bamburi Sauti chapter, Shikaadabu Sauti chapter, Mwembelegeza Sauti chapter, Kisauni Sauti chapter and Mtongwe sauti chapter.
- Trained young mothers from Matuga and Kinago sub-counties on entrepreneurship skills, business planning, and financial literacy. Also, trained in coconut oil making and soap making using aloe vera and natural coconut oil.
- In Kilifi, Mombasa, and Kwale county Sauti Ya Wanawake Pwani in partnership with Action Aid, Aga Khan Foundation, and Equality Now respectively provided startup kits to young mothers and women which helped boost their businesses and some started businesses. The start-up kits were a form of materials and cash, some of the groups that benefited were sauti gongoni, young women Ganze, young mothers Bamba, and young mothers Marereni in Kilifi county. In Mombasa women from Likoni, Mvita, Kisauni, and Kwale counties young mothers from Kinango (Waridi young mothers) and Matuga (super young mothers)
